Biological residues can be used as fillers and reinforcing materials in plastics. The influence of ground plum and cherry stone shells as fillers in compounds made of polylactic acid (PLA) and thermoplastic starch (TPS) was investigated. A reinforcing effect is evident in the increase in the modulus of elasticity, but at the same time the toughness of the compounds decreases. Nevertheless, ground pit shells can be an interesting additive in bioplastic formulations to adjust the properties of the recipe.
